Hangout Hostel was built by hikers, for hikers. Located in the beautiful and historic town of Lake City, Colorado. We understand exactly what you need after crushing miles on the trail. We are proud to be the essential resupply and recovery stop for adventurers tackling the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), the Colorado Trail (CT), and exploring the countless high-altitude peaks and rugged landscapes of the San Juan Mountains or experiencing the winter in Lake City at the ice wall or on the trail.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to provide a clean, comfortable, and community-focused basecamp where you can truly rest, recharge, and connect with fellow trail family members. We offer more than just a place to sleep; we offer a supportive environment where gear can be dried, stories can be shared, and future plans can be plotted. If you need a zero day or just a solid night’s sleep before pushing on, we’ve got your bunk.
All-Season Adventure
As the seasons shift, so do our guests. In the winter, we become a sanctuary for ice climbers and winter sports enthusiasts. We offer a budget-friendly basecamp for those seeking the world-class ice flows of Lake City, providing a warm and social atmosphere to dry out gear and plan the next day’s ascent.
Opened July 2025
We officially opened our doors in July 2025, bringing a fresh, modern, and dedicated hiker hub to the heart of Lake City. Since day one, we have been committed to supporting the thru-hiking community and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and ready for their next adventure.
